Memórias sobre as bandas marciais de Guarabira - PB na relação com o estudo da história local (1950/1980)

Abstract

This dissertation's research objective is to survey and use the memories of participants in marching bands from Guarabira (1950/1980) to study local history. I understand marching bands as intangible heritage that involves the aesthetic, training and educational dimensions of schools in this municipality. Therefore, this text focuses on the memories of the members of the Raimundo Soares Martial Band as a means of enhancing historical-educational activities which produce versions of the local history of the city of Guarabira. The objective of this work is to build other historical-educational knowledge that will expand the historiography of Guarabira, taking into account the tradition of marching bands in this municipality. During the preparation of this research, some readings by authors were important, for example, BENJAMIN; BOSCHI; BURKE; GALZERANI; THOMPSON; among others, as well as in official documents. The methodology used in the research was qualitative interviews, which were recorded digitally and transcribed which, in turn, were used in this text. I collected the memories of people who participated in marching bands between the 1950s and 1980s, people from Guarabira and current members of the Raimundo Soares Martial Band (BMRS), elementary school students (final years) at the Municipal Elementary School Raul de Freitas Mousinho (EMEFRFM). It is, therefore, an oral history research, since the data collection carried out with the participating subjects produced records of the memories of individuals who participated throughout the time studied. This research made it possible to create documentary sources that will serve the teaching of local history in basic education schools in Guarabira, which will contribute to the teaching-learning of students, as well as the general community of this municipality.
