Abstract: The history of lesbianity was, for a long time, devoid of its legitimacy and marginalized. Little is known about lesbian women, and this reverberates in the wide artistic spaces. It couldn't be different in Literature. In this context, this work proposes to analyze the representations and figurations of lesbianity in Brazilian prose fiction starting from the first narratives with the presence of lesbian characters/with homoerotic tendencies, published by the end of the 19th century, and then discuss the narratives of Amora (2015), by Natalia Borges Polesso, in order to read, in dialogue, significant points that mark trajectories of tradition and rupture of representations and figurations of lesbianism in Brazilian literature. In order to do so, an examination of the presence of these characters in their beginnings in the Brazilian narrative was made, among which were selected: O Cortiço (1890), Histórias da Gente Alegre (1910), and A Condessa Vésper (1902). Knowing that the story is not necessarily linear and bestows traces in the present (BENJAMIN, 1987), we read the lesbian character's past in Brazilian literature not only to find traces of socially invisible figures, but to analyze their configurations and to understand the points of friction between the narratives. At first, we identified characters categorically marginalized by the subversive way in which they act in the narratives. In turn, they find fissures, alternative ways to stand out in the midst of social and cultural obstacles, so that they emerge as subjective potencies, figuring a becoming-lesbian (DELEUZE; GUATTARI, 2012) in Brazilian literature. Although Polesso's characters sometimes seem more restrained, they are also more free in their actions. For discussions about lesbian characters, fundamental studies for the construction of this research are: Judith Butler (2019) and her contributions within the field of gender and sexualities; Monique Wittig (2019), when problematizing the place of the socially constructed female subject; Maria Rita Kehl (2008), in her study of female hysteria in past centuries. We also consider the periods in which each of the narrative is inserted, so as not to lose sight of the relationships between the narratives of the 19th and early 20th centuries with Naturalism and Decadentism in Brazil. For that, we resort to discussions by Antonio Candido (1991), Araripe Jr. (2013), Nelson Werneck Sodré (1965), and Silviano Santiago (2004). As for the relations of continuity and rupture in the contemporary context of representations of lesbianity, we focus on the book of short stories Amora, by Natalia Borges Polesso, which explores innumerable expressions subjectivities of lesbian women. Childish characters, young and old, have their stories intertwined in affectionate threads that allow us to see love in silent gestures, but also deafening at times. In Amora, we highlight the lesbian experiences, in order to analyze their potencies, representations, to read their silences and to problematize their places and ways of being and living. For this, we employ Spinoza's (2019) reflections on affection and we return to Deleuze and Guattari (2012) regarding the ritornelo and the movements of territorialization, deterritorialization and reterritorialization, reading such discussions to debate the pace of experiencing the feeling loving in the analyzed reports. In this sense, our look at lesbianity and these literary texts is non-linear and aims to discuss the representations, figurations, legitimacy and subjectivities of lesbian characters or with homoerotic tendencies in Brazilian literature in prose, in these selected points of their trajectory. It is observed, in this path, that the fissures in the actions of the characters make them more complex than common sense usually suggests in relation to the lesbian woman, perhaps because the very condition of being a woman often implies a fissure, in art, in life.
