Natureza e subjetividade no Werther de Goethe

Abstract

This work aims to investigate the theme of nature in Goethe, starting from his novel The Sorrows of the Young Werther. We will use this novel as a basic reference because we understand that the main aspects that characterize the poetic and spiritual nature of the Goethean worldview are present in it, since the natural elements are central to Werther's narrative construction, because they establish an intimate connection with the narrator-character and present themselves as an unfolding of their subjectivity. In order to carry out this study, in the first two chapters we will present the Goethean worldview, which will be our main theoretical basis, and some of its developments in Werther, because we understand that this will provide us with subsidies to penetrate Goethe's novel in a broader and thorough. In the final chapter, we will read Werther in the light of his own author's theoretical presuppositions, which characterize his worldview, especially the Goethean conception of nature, which will be our main element of approach. Thus, we hope with this work to offer new theoretical and hermeneutical tools for the interpretation of the Goethean work, which must be understood as being a totality.
