Quem pariu Matheus que balance: Programa bolsa família e relações de gênero na perspectiva das(os) beneficiárias(os) - Lagoa Seca-PB

Abstract

Social policies, especially the Bolsa Família Program (BFP), can directly or indirectly affect gender relations as "institutions" that construct discursively the social places of gender. Considering the possibilities of naturalization of the domestic space for women, linked to an "innate" construction of maternity, based on the conditionalities and ownership of the Program, the aim is to question if the BFP would also increase fissures in the everyday experiences of beneficiary women and men in relation to gender relations within the family and daily life. Thus, this research had the general objective of analyzing the gender implications in the beneficiary families of the municipality of Lagoa Seca/PB from the ownership of the program and its conditionalities. The specific objectives were: to outline the socioeconomic profile of women and men who benefit from the Bolsa Família Program (BFP); to analyze the discourses of women and men who hold the benefit of gender relations; to discuss the possible implications of BFP ownership for gender and power relations in the family context of the beneficiary and to identify the level of involvement with the conditionalities of the program between men and women of beneficiary families and the gender relations. For that, interviews and the critical reading of the speeches of the beneficiaries were conducted, having as theoretical reference the studies of Gender, which take it as an analytical and historical category. In this exercise, marked by the games of knowledge and powers that culturally seek to define the places of the feminine and masculine, it is observed that the BFP, while signalizing the essentialization of gender relations, also allows fissures in the experiences between the beneficiary women and men, which allows the innumerable contradictions, ruptures and continuities of this process to be indicted and discussed.
